Teddy Bear? Gremlin? Or Dog in A Raincoat?

Spotted: One of the following three things: A bear, a gremlin, or a dog in a raincoat. When the impossible has been eliminated, what remains, however unlikely, must be the Truth.
It's a gremlin.

Christopher Bailey, You Need to See This

Spotted: As many of the finer details may not be clearly distinguishable in this photo, allow me to point them out for you. This dog is wearing:
1) Burberry
2) A dress
3) A sequined gold collar
4) A glittery gold leash

A Red Sweater is Forever

Spotted: Match made in heaven: SWDog seeks Cozy Red Sweater for walks in central park, autumns in the city, and lasting friendship.
At: Upper something-or-other.

Cool as Ice

Spotted: This dog is a small polar bear that drifted off his iceberg and ended up in Jamaica. You know he's just been sitting on a beach somewhere, relaxin'. Where are his sunglasses?

Rosie the Dog Model

Spotted: Imagine my surprise when I stopped this striking looking creature on the street, asked to take her picture, and was told that she is a dog model. Yes, indeed, folks - there are dog models! Rosie here modeled for a book coming out sometime this summer or fall, and from what I hear she has quite the busy schedule.
At: 4th and 2nd ave,
Lower East Side.

Mickey Mouse Rides Again

Spotted: A dog in a Mickey Mouse suit! For reals! And this wasn't even Halloween or anything. I think he just wears this on a daily basis. I would imagine that on special occasions he dresses up as Big Bird. Possibly Speedy Gonzalez.

Rubbing My Eyes in Disbelief . . .

Spotted: Jaw drops. Head whips around. Eyes bug out in cartoon fashion. Oh My God!!! Look at this sweater!!! The colors children, the colors! This dog is like a walking black-light poster. Also, the bands of black and green remind me of "Space Invaders." Points awarded for general awesomeness; extra points for reminding me of a classic arcade game I used to play at the Teen Center.
At: Lower East Side, which just got a little bit cooler.

Skullz 'n Bonez, Grrrrrrrrr!!!!!!

Spotted: This dog has the skull and crossbones trend nailed down tight. Also, he is not too busy intimidating passers-by to make sure that his leash matches his bones. Now that's a fine mix of class and street cred. Grrrr.
At: Lower East Side (I think)

Colorful Coats for a Rainy Day

Spotted: Inquisitive faces, complementary coats.

Barrettes are Making a Comeback

Spotted: A stellar set of barrettes. On a dog. I think I used to wear these in the 80's. I like that my childhood fashions have come around again, but this time for dogs. Also, how cute is that sweater???
At: Upper East

Do It Like the Pros

Spotted: I just had to stop this dog and owner to get a shot of this one-of-a-kind, handmade sweater. Just look at those embroidered leaves!!! The owner is actually a professional dog-sweater maker.

Dog Fashion Mecca

Spotted: A store full of every kind of couture, rock-out-your-dog outfit imaginable. The shopkeeper's pooch was modeling this Rolling Stones shirt. This place is a must for any fan of both punk rock and doggie clothing. Which I know is all of you, dear readers.
At: Pariero, West Village,

Sunday in the Park with [Pups]

Spotted: A truly fantastic sweater, on a dog named "Pups." This sweater was hand-knitted by the dog owner's mother. I think the care really shows. I also love that this dog is named Pups, which is what I call all dogs whose names I don't know.
At: Central Park, one of the first sunny and relatively warm days of (almost) spring!

FINALLY!! A toggle coat on a dog!!!!

Spotted: I nearly flipped when I saw this. A toggle coat! On a dog! For the record, I sometimes wear a toggle coat, though not as adorable as this. Also, bonus points are awarded for having purely decorative, non-functional toggles. More points for the preppy red collar.
At: Midtown, 53rd and 1st.

Your Daily Dose of Pink

Spotted: Your daily dose of pink. And small dog-ness. And shearling.
At: Lower East Side.

A Warm Sweater for a Blistery Day

Spotted: A classic cozy, fuzzy sweater. A dog squinting into the wind. If he he only had on a warm woolen hat and mittens, the picture would be complete. Perfect, even. Attention all dog owners! Put mittens on your dogs. And hats. Please??

Dogs Being People: Take-out for Two!

Spotted: Look at this dog! Ordering food from a takeout window, just like his owner. And in matching grey coats, no less. The only thing that would impress me more is to see this dog knit himself a sweater. . . (eyes dog warily)
At: Lower East Side, 2nd ave and 6th street?

Upper East Side Princess

Spotted: An actual princess. For your consideration:
1) Gold leash
2) Dainty matching sweater and coat with dog-design trim
3) What appears to be a bow in her hair
At: 79th and Park

Bondage Gear . . . on a dog?

Spotted: A dog wearing what appears to be black-leather studded bondage gear. A dog this tough can only be found within 3 blocks of the Hell's Angels headquarters, which is where I found him.
At: Lower East Side, 2nd ave and 6th street

Jack the Ripper, 80's style!!!

Spotted: This dog is doing so many things right that I have to make a list:
1) He is wearing a jumpsuit
2) His jumpsuit has a hood
3) Wearing an 80's puffer vest, and 80's tracksuit-striped pants, in complementary colors of rust-orange, yellow, brown and tan
4) His name is Jack the Ripper
At: A thrift store on the Upper East Side

Windy & Tweedy

Spotted: A dog braving the wind in his snug miniature tweed coat. Love the black piping. Way to tough it out in style, little guy.

German Police Dogs to Wear Shoes

The dogs wearing shoes phenomenon is spreading. German police dogs will now wear royal-blue shoes as part of their doggie uniform: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080226/ap_on_fe_st/dog_shoes;_ylt=AoFD3EKPw2fsWLhMiMrYmQAuQE4F
What is the world coming to? Something great, and slightly ridiculous, that's what.

Fence Sitter

Spotted: Okay, so it's not a dog in a sweater. But look at this dog sitting on that bench
. . . just like a person!
You know he thinks he's an old man who sits in the park
every afternoon and plays chess.
At: Tompkins Square Park.

A Macrame-d Sharpei

Spotted: These two dogs appear to be wearing hand-knitted sweaters. Is this crochet? Macrame? The floral pattern on the first dog is great - very 60's hippie, like it came off the set of "The Brady Bunch." That golden German shephard-y dog is also just too cute for words.
At: Tompkins Square Park.

Army of Two

Spotted: Two tough-looking dogs rocking the camo, checking out the scene. They really do look like they're up to something. . .
At: Tompkins Square Park.

Mommy's Single!

Spotted: My first sweater with a message! "Mommy" was indeed single, dressed in a fantastic dramatic coat and shades, and regaled me with tales of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton partying in a yacht off Ireland in the 70's. I love this dog.
At: 10th Street, Lower East Side
